Tournament Details
SAGINAW DOUBLES TOURNEY
The Saginaw Fun Doubles Tournament was held Saturday, November 19th in Saginaw MI, and it was certainly fun. There were 5 teams in the A Division that played a round robin, two games to 21 points, and the two teams with the highest
scores went on to the finals. The finals resulted in Randy Wackerle and Greg Keenan defeating Sonny Salazar and Sandy DeGrief in a tough 3 game match.
There were 4 teams in the B Division that also played a round robin format. The finals resulted in Rick Kogelman and Steve Weir defeating Jody Henning and Jim Price in 2 straight games.
SORRENTO VALLEY “TOYS FOR TOTS” TOURNEY
The Sorrento Valey doubles tourney was held Saturday, December 10th in San Diego CA. There were three round robin divisions (Open, A & B)
First place was taken by the team of Jimmy Coggburn and Todd Entriken. Emmett Coe & Brian Pineda took 2nd. Craig Olney & Jim Durst , Jacob Varela & Justin Ivers, Charlie Brumfield & Jamie Lawson completed the field.
Also competing in the tourney were divisions made up of A to mid B round robin and Mid B to C round robin. Teams were pretty spread out. We let Rick Florence play in the A/B because he was coming off an injury (had this been a more credited shootout, he would have not played in this group). He and Brannon Allison took 1st and Ski & Mop took 2nd ( Joe Ski & Dave Ratynski). B/C Greg Swanson & Dan Trubovitz 1st and Corey Donohoe & Stryder Thompkins 2nd.
This event was more for fun with the focus being the entry fee was a New Unwrapped Toy (collected over 100) to donate to Toys for Tots which helps the military.
